Denon and Marantz receivers accept one control connection at a time. Close other remote apps, and pause any home automation system (for example a smart home hub) that keeps a connection to the receiver, then try again. Avrline itself lets go of the receiver as soon as you leave the app.
On the receiver, open Setup → Network → Network Control and choose "Always On". Without it, the receiver switches its network off in standby and cannot be woken.
Avrline shows the volume as the receiver counts it (0 to 98, in half steps). If your receiver's display shows dB instead, the number is the same volume: dB = the number − 80. The slider sends one value when you let go. Set your volume limit in Settings: above it, Avrline asks once before sending the higher value.
Avrline shows a change as done only when the receiver reports it. "Not confirmed" means the receiver did not report it in time (for example a source zone 2 cannot play); the receiver's real state is always shown.
Avrline offers the modes the receiver reports back as themselves: Stereo, Multi Ch Stereo, Direct and Pure Direct. Modes such as Movie or Music are reported as the decoder the receiver picked (for example Dolby Surround); Avrline shows that name when the receiver is in such a mode.
No. Avrline talks to your receiver only on your home network and has no cloud service.
