Tempo Timesheets and Xero integration: how to get hours into an invoice

We found no native Xero invoice export inside Tempo Timesheets (checked 8 November 2026). You can bill from Tempo hours with a Marketplace app that creates Xero invoices, an automation connector, or by exporting Tempo raw data as CSV and importing an invoice CSV into Xero.

Steps

  1. Export the Tempo raw worklog data for the billing period as CSV.
  2. Set the hourly rate per person and the date each rate starts.
  3. Group the hours by customer and write an invoice CSV in the layout Xero imports.
  4. In Xero open Sales, Invoices, Import and upload the file.
  5. Review the draft invoices in Xero before you approve them.

Limits

A CSV import is manual and one-way: nothing syncs between Tempo and Xero. Xero opens imported invoices as drafts, wants one invoice number per invoice, and recommends at most 500 lines per file. If you want invoices created in Xero automatically, an app such as Clerk Invoices does that; Hourbill does not.

The tool

Hourbill reads that file in your browser, applies hourly rates you set and writes the invoice CSV for Xero or QuickBooks Online. Free for your first 10 rows, then $29 a month. Try Hourbill
