Bank reconciliation CSV compare tool (Xero & QuickBooks)
Upload your bank statement CSV and your ledger CSV. Recondiff shows what matches, what is only in the bank, what is only in the books, and which lines look like double entries.
- Your files stay in your browserThey are not uploaded. The matching runs in this page. You can check it in your browser's Network tab.
- Xero and QuickBooks Online exportsColumns are found for you. 1.234,56 and 1,234.56 are both read correctly, and so are DD/MM and MM/DD dates.
- Three passes, in orderSame amount and date, then same amount within 3 days, then similar description.
Compare two files
1. Bank statement CSV
From your bank, or a Xero or QuickBooks bank statement export.
2. Ledger CSV
Xero Account Transactions, a QuickBooks Online register or report, or any CSV.

How the matching works
- Exact matchSame amount and same date. If several lines share both, the ones with the most similar description are paired first.
- Same amount within 3 daysFor payments that clear a day or two later. The closest date wins.
- Similar descriptionFor what is left: a similar name with the same amount within 31 days, or within 5 percent of the amount and 14 days. These are marked so you can check them.
- What remainsLines only in the bank, lines only in the ledger, and possible duplicates: the same amount and date twice in one file, with the same or a similar description.
If the bank shows an amount with the opposite sign to the ledger (a debit in one is a credit in the other), Recondiff notices and reverses the ledger signs. It tells you when it did.
Which files to use
Bank side. The CSV from your bank's online banking, for the same date range as the ledger file.
Xero. Export the Account Transactions report for the bank account as CSV. Title lines above the header row and total lines at the bottom are skipped. Read our guide to finding unreconciled transactions in Xero first if you only need Xero's own list.
QuickBooks Online. Export a transaction report or register for the bank account. QuickBooks exports to Excel: open it and save as CSV. Payment and Deposit columns, or one Amount column, both work. For a difference on the reconcile screen, see QuickBooks bank reconciliation discrepancy.
Anything else. Any CSV with a date, an amount (or money in and money out) and a description. Semicolon, comma, tab and pipe separated files are read. If the columns are not recognised you can choose them by hand.

Questions
Do my files leave my computer?
No. The files are read and matched inside this web page with JavaScript. They are not uploaded, stored or logged by us. The page makes three kinds of requests: loading the page itself, an anonymous count of visits and of tool uses (no file data, no cookies), only if you type your email under the result and press Send, that email address plus four result counts, and, only if you buy or enter a key, the licence check and Paddle's payment window.
What does the licence key check send?
Only the key. The key is made in your browser. Paddle receives a one-way hash of it so the payment can be linked to it, never the key itself.
Why does the free preview stop at 50 rows?
Free is for trying the matching on your own data. The paid plans lift the limit and add downloads. In the preview a row can look unmatched only because its partner is below row 50; the page says so.
What about Excel files (.xlsx)?
This version reads CSV. In Excel choose Save As, CSV.
Can it post entries to Xero or QuickBooks?
No. It compares two files and gives you a report. Fixes are made in your accounting software.
Is the result accounting advice?
No. It is a comparison aid. Check each difference before you change your books.
