What it does

Version Cleaner for Confluence is an Atlassian Forge application for controlled page-history cleanup. Choose spaces or pages, set the versions to keep by count or age, and review every affected page before confirming. Cleanup continues on an Atlassian-hosted queue while a metadata-only audit trail records the result.

Capabilities

Preview before anything is deleted

See the affected pages and version counts first, then export the preview as CSV. Deletion starts only after an exact DELETE confirmation. The current version of a page is never selected.

Keep history by count, age or both

Keep the latest 1 to 1,000 versions, versions newer than 0 to 3,650 days, or combine both safeguards. A historical version is selected only when it breaks every enabled rule.

Clean spaces or selected page trees

Choose up to 20 spaces, or enter up to 100 page links or identifiers and optionally include descendants. Blog posts can be included for space-wide cleanup.

Background progress with a stop control

Cleanup runs on an Atlassian-hosted queue, oldest eligible version first, and continues after the browser closes. Progress is visible and a run can be stopped between deletions; completed deletions remain final.

A metadata-only audit trail

Export a CSV of each deleted version with its page, version number, author account id, date, message and deletion time. Page content is never copied into the audit record, which is removed after 90 days.

No data leaves Atlassian

The application runs on Atlassian Forge, uses Atlassian-hosted storage and makes no external network calls. It contains no analytics, remote backend or externally hosted code.

What we do not claim

  • It has not been approved or listed on the Atlassian Marketplace and has no installation count, customer list or review history.
  • Deleted versions cannot be restored by the application. Preview carefully and use the CSV records as an audit trail, not as a backup.
  • A run can cover at most 5,000 affected pages, and a page with more than 5,000 versions is skipped. Drafts and trashed content are not scanned.
  • Permission is checked while the preview is built. The queued deletion runs as the Forge app and does not repeat that signed-in user's permission check at deletion time.
  • It holds no security certification and has not undergone a third-party audit.
