Step-by-step guides for this job
What it does
Mind Map I/O for Miro is an app that runs inside a Miro board. It reads outline and mind map files — OPML from Workflowy, Dynalist or Logseq, Markdown outlines from Obsidian or a Notion export, XMind, FreeMind and Freeplane, CSV and indented text — shows a preview, and creates a native Miro mind map at the centre of your view, or shapes and connectors if you prefer. Undo removes what it added and keeps anything a teammate has edited since. Export works the other way: select a mind map, or shapes joined by connectors, and download or copy it as OPML, Markdown, text, CSV, FreeMind or JSON. Files and board content are processed in your browser and never pass through our servers.
Capabilities
Seven formats in
OPML, Markdown outlines (headings and nested bullets), XMind (XMind 8 and 2020 or later, any sheet), FreeMind and Freeplane .mm with notes and links, CSV in three layouts, indented text and its own lossless JSON.
Native Miro mind maps
Imports become real Miro mind map nodes laid out left to right, or shapes and connectors through Miro's stable interface. Larger files are previewed first, and the free plan offers the first 50 nodes, breadth first.
Undo that respects your team
Before creating anything the app records what it will add. Undo removes exactly that and keeps any node a teammate has edited in the meantime.
Six formats out
Select any node of a mind map, or shapes and sticky notes joined by connectors, and export the tree as OPML, Markdown, plain text, CSV, FreeMind or JSON — downloaded or copied.
Stays in your browser
Files are parsed in the app's page inside Miro and written to the board with Miro's Web SDK. No file, outline or board content reaches our servers; the server only issues and renews Pro keys.
Free and Pro
The free plan covers OPML and Markdown for maps up to 50 nodes. Pro covers every format and maps up to 3,000 nodes for one person.
