Report Fixer documentation

Documentation for Report Fixer 0.3, the version with the free plan and Pro. It will be extended as the extension changes.

Requirements

  • Chrome 137 or newer, or another Chromium-based browser of the same version such as Edge, Brave or Opera. License keys are checked with the browser’s own cryptography, which older versions lack.
  • Install it from the Report Fixer listing in the Chrome Web Store with Add to Chrome.
  • A QuickBooks Online company. The free QuickBooks Online Test Drive sample company can be used to try it without an account.

Reading a report

  • Open any report in QuickBooks Online. Full width, sticky headings and full text apply on their own.
  • The buttons at the bottom right of the report start focus mode, copy the report and download a CSV. They can be dragged out of the way.
  • Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+F for focus mode, Alt+Shift+C to copy for Excel, Esc to leave focus mode.

Founding users, free plan and Pro

  • Existing users keep everything they have today for free. If you installed Report Fixer before version 0.3, you are a founding user: every feature it had then (every report fixed, Copy for Excel, CSV, remembered rows, drill-downs in a new tab) stays free for you, for good. The extension recognises this by itself when it updates; nothing to do.
  • New installations start on the free plan: the layout fixes (full width, sticky headings and first column, full text, row height and focus mode) on 3 different reports a day. The same report opened again the same day is not counted. A fourth report is shown as QuickBooks draws it, with a small Free limit reached button; the count starts again at midnight.
  • Pro fixes every report and has Copy for Excel, CSV download, remembered rows, drill-downs in a new tab and, new in Pro for everyone, founding users included, Excel workbooks with grouped rows.
  • Pro is $9 a month or $79 a year per person, sold on report-fixer.atesensoftware.com through Paddle, the merchant of record.
  • To activate Pro, click the Report Fixer button in the toolbar, choose Enter license key, paste the key from the e-mail (it starts with QRF1.) and press Activate. While a report is open and the key is still valid, it is shown to the license server at most once a day to renew it. After the key has expired, it asks about once an hour. A check that fails does not ask again sooner: a valid key keeps working until its own expiry.

Drill-downs in a new tab (Pro)

  • Ctrl+click (⌘+click on a Mac) or middle-click an amount to open its details in a new tab. The current tab stays on the report.
  • If the new tab shows different figures, for example other dates or filters, the amount is not opened and a message says why.

Settings

The toolbar button switches each feature on or off: full width, sticky headings, the sticky first column, full text, row height, remembered rows, drill-downs in a new tab and the buttons on reports.

Forget remembered rows, in the toolbar popup, deletes the row names the extension has saved on this device.

When a report is not recognised

Copy page details for support, in the toolbar popup, copies the structure of the page around the report with every letter replaced by x and every digit by 9, so no names or amounts are included. Email it to support.
