ThreadClean privacy
This section describes how ThreadClean handles data. It supplements the site-wide privacy policy.
Where the extension runs
In your browser, on mail.google.com only. Atesen Software never receives your email.
What it reads
When you press Export clean PDF, the messages of the open conversation: for each message, the original that Gmail's own Download message menu item gives, fetched from your Gmail tab with your existing Gmail session. Attachments are listed by name and size only; their contents are not read.
What it stores
- The conversation is held in the memory of the preview tab only and is gone when you close it. The list of message ids for that tab is kept in the browser's session storage, which is cleared when the browser closes.
- In the browser's local extension storage: the ids of the conversations exported on the free plan (up to 3), your license key if you add one, and a random install id used only to deliver a key you buy from the extension.
What it sends
No email content, address or subject is ever sent anywhere. The extension makes no analytics requests. After you press Buy in the extension, it sends its random install id to the Atesen Software license server (https://threadclean.atesensoftware.com) to collect the key you bought; it sends nothing else.
Buying a license
The license is bought on threadclean.atesensoftware.com. Paddle, the merchant of record, handles the payment and receives your e-mail address and payment details; the extension and our server never see them. Our server receives the transaction id, a Paddle customer id and the random install id, and stores them with your key so it can be shown again.
Permissions it asks for
- Storage: for the free-export count, your license key and the install id described above.
- A content script on mail.google.com: to show the Export clean PDF button and to read the open conversation when you press it. The extension has no access to any other site.
