What it does

ThreadClean is a Chrome extension for Gmail. Open a conversation, press Export clean PDF, and it builds one PDF with a cover line, a table of contents and one section per message, oldest first. Quoted earlier messages, “On … wrote:” blocks, Outlook “From: … Sent: …” blocks and signatures repeated in every reply are left out, and a preview shows what is removed before you save. Your mail is read and turned into a PDF in your browser and never reaches Atesen Software. Planned pricing for the store release: 3 exports are free; a lifetime license is $29 once. It cannot be installed from the Chrome Web Store today.

Capabilities

One button in Gmail

Open a conversation and press Export clean PDF at the bottom right of Gmail, or the ThreadClean button in Chrome's toolbar. Messages Gmail folds into “older messages” are included. Drafts are left out.

Quoted history removed

Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird quote styles, “>” lines, “On … wrote:” in English, German, French, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch, Outlook “From: … Sent: …” blocks in the same languages, and signatures a sender repeats in every reply.

Careful by default

Text is removed only when it repeats an earlier message of the same conversation. A quote of something that is not in the conversation is kept, and forwarded messages are kept.

Preview before you save

After shows each message once; Before highlights every removed passage. One switch puts the quoted text back into the PDF, in grey.

A readable PDF

A cover line with the subject, message count, dates and people, a table of contents with page numbers, then From, To, Cc, date, attachment names and the text of each message, oldest first.

Private by design

No Google sign-in, no Gmail API and no server for your mail. The extension reads the open conversation from your own Gmail tab and builds the PDF in the browser.

Plans

Planned pricing for the store release. Prices are in US dollars. The lifetime license is advertised on threadclean.atesensoftware.com, where Paddle.com, our reseller and merchant of record, handles sales tax and VAT and shows the final total. ThreadClean is not in the Chrome Web Store yet, so it cannot be installed from there today. 14-day refunds.

In your browser, on mail.google.com only. Atesen Software never receives your email.

What does ThreadClean connect to?

No email content, address or subject is ever sent anywhere. The extension makes no analytics requests. After you press Buy in the extension, it sends its random install id to the Atesen Software license server (https://threadclean.atesensoftware.com) to collect the key you bought; it sends nothing else.

What we do not claim

It has no installation count, ratings or review history on this site.
It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Gmail is a trademark of Google LLC.
It changes nothing in your mailbox. It only reads the conversation you export, when you press the button.
Quote detection is automatic and can miss a style it does not know. The preview shows what is removed before you save.
The PDF uses the bundled Roboto font: Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts print; Chinese, Japanese, Korean and emoji characters do not yet.
It works with Gmail in Chrome on a computer, not with the Gmail mobile apps.
