What it does
Service Catalog Porter is an application for Freshservice administrators. It exports the service catalog of one or more workspaces (items, categories and custom fields with their dropdown choices) as an XLSX workbook, a CSV file or a JSON bundle created in the browser. The general fields of existing items can be edited in that spreadsheet and uploaded again: a preview shows only the cells that changed, nothing is written before a typed confirmation, and every item is read again and skipped if it changed since the export. Items can also be copied to another workspace, and new items, with their custom fields and choices, can be created from an exported workbook. Writing changes to existing items is off after installation, because some Freshservice accounts refuse the catalog update request.
Capabilities
Export the whole catalog
Items, categories and custom fields, including the choices of dropdown fields, for one or more workspaces in one file: an XLSX workbook with the sheets Items, Categories and CustomFields, a CSV file of the items, or a JSON bundle. The Freshservice Service Catalog itself has no export button.
Bulk edit from a spreadsheet
Change the name, short and long description, cost, delivery time, visibility or category of existing items in the exported file and upload it. The preview lists only the changed cells, with category names. After you type the phrase shown, for example UPDATE 4, each item is read again, skipped if it changed since the export, and written five at a time. A result CSV lists every row with Freshservice's answer.
Copy to another workspace
Selected items are created as new items in the target workspace. A name that already exists gets " (copy)" appended, or the item is skipped when that name exists too. Categories are matched by name; an item whose category does not exist in the target workspace is reported instead of being placed elsewhere.
Import new items with custom fields
New items are created from an exported XLSX workbook or JSON bundle, together with their custom fields: label, placeholder, required, requester options, choices and field type. An item with a field type the Freshservice create request does not document is not created, and the reason is shown. Existing items are never changed by an import.
Safe to start
Writing changes to existing items is off after installation; export, copy and import work without it. When it is switched on and Freshservice answers HTTP 405 to the update request, the application stops at the first refusal, reports the remaining items as not attempted and says so on screen.
Questions
Where does Service Catalog Porter run?
The application runs in the administrator's browser inside Freshservice, on the Freshworks Developer Platform. It has no server code. Atesen Software does not operate a server or a database for it and never receives your data.

What we do not claim
- It is under review by Freshworks Marketplace, not approved, listed or publicly installable. Public installation, customer and review counts are not verified.
- It has not yet been tested on a live Freshservice account. Updating existing service items depends on Freshservice accepting the documented update request, which some accounts have refused with HTTP 405; in that case only export, copy and import are available.
- It does not change the choices or custom fields of existing items, and it cannot create categories: the Freshservice API offers no working way to do either. Copy to Workspace sends general fields only; custom fields travel through an XLSX import.
- Bundles, child items, icons and attachment or quantity settings are not copied or imported.
- It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Freshworks.
- It holds no security certification and has not undergone a third-party audit.
