Local Mail Export is in development. It has not been submitted to the Chrome Web Store, so it cannot be installed from there today. This page exists so the address is stable when that changes.

What it does
Local Mail Export is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers that saves Gmail conversations to the user's computer. Open a conversation, or tick some in the list, and press Export. A new tab gathers the messages and offers a printable archive to save as PDF, a ZIP with the archive, each original .eml file and the attachments, and a CSV index. Everything is made inside the browser: there is no sign-in screen, no server and no upload.
Capabilities
PDF archive
A cover with the counts and dates, a contents list, then each conversation from a new page with From, To, Cc, Date and the message itself.
ZIP
archive.html, which opens from disk with no network; each original message as an .eml file, byte for byte; the attachments as files; and index.csv.
CSV index
One row per message: the conversation, date, sender, To, Cc, subject, attachments, the .eml path and the message IDs. The separator follows the language: a semicolon where the decimal mark is a comma.
Reads real email
Multipart messages, base64 and quoted-printable, any charset including Turkish ones, encoded names and file names, pictures sent inside a message and forwarded messages.
Safe to open
Scripts, frames, forms and event handlers are removed. Pictures from the internet are not loaded unless you ask, because loading them tells the sender that the archive was opened.
Where you need it
An Export button in Gmail, the toolbar popup and Alt+Shift+E.

Questions
Where does Local Mail Export run?
Entirely in your browser, on Gmail (mail.google.com). Atesen Software receives nothing from it.
What does Local Mail Export connect to?
Nothing from your mail goes to Atesen Software. The extension asks for no Google account permission, has no analytics and loads no remote code. Its requests go to Gmail, for your own messages from the account you are signed in to. Pictures from the internet are loaded only if you switch on remote pictures in the archive, which is off by default; then the archive tab loads them directly from the servers named in those messages.
How do I get help with Local Mail Export?
Support for Local Mail Export is provided by email in English and Turkish.
Email support@atesensoftware.com. We aim to acknowledge every support email within two business days (Europe/Istanbul).
What we do not claim
- It is in development. It has not been submitted to or approved by the Chrome Web Store, and has no installation count or review history.
- It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Gmail is a trademark of Google LLC.
- It exports what is open or ticked, not every page of a search. Gmail shows up to 100 conversations per page.
- It depends on Gmail's pages, which are not a public interface. A change to Gmail can break it until the extension is updated.
- It is not a backup service. It does not export automatically or on a schedule.
- The Gmail tab must stay open until the archive tab says Ready.
