Conversation Archive for Help Scout is deployed at helpscout-archive.atesensoftware.com but is not open yet. Connecting a Help Scout account is switched on once its Help Scout app keys are added, and checkout by Paddle once payments are set up, so no one can export a mailbox or buy a plan today. Its site takes waitlist sign-ups meanwhile.

What it does
Conversation Archive for Help Scout is a web application for support teams that need a complete, readable copy of their Help Scout conversations: for a legal request, an audit, a client handover, or before they leave Help Scout. Help Scout's own reporting export leaves out the conversation threads. You sign in with Help Scout, pick a mailbox, a date range and a status, and see how many conversations match before anything starts. Your browser then builds one PDF per conversation with the full history oldest first (customer messages, replies, internal notes, phone and chat threads and activity), saves the original attachments in a folder per conversation, and adds CSV files for conversations, threads and attachments. Large mailboxes are split into ZIP parts and an interrupted export resumes where it stopped. It only reads from Help Scout, and conversations are never stored on its server.
Capabilities
One PDF per conversation
The full history, oldest first: customer messages, replies, internal notes, phone and chat threads, To/CC/BCC and timestamps in your time zone. Internal notes are highlighted and activity such as assignments and status changes is listed in order.
Attachments and CSV files
Original attachments are saved as files, one folder per conversation number, and referenced from the PDF. CSV files list conversations, threads with full text and every attachment, with tags and custom fields, and open in Excel without garbled characters.
Choose, then count
Pick a mailbox, a date range and a status. Before an export starts you see how many conversations match and roughly how long it will take. Unsent drafts and spam are left out unless you include them.
Large mailboxes, resumable
Exports are split into ZIP parts. Every finished part is already saved, and an interrupted export continues with the next part, so nothing is duplicated or skipped. It uses at most three quarters of Help Scout's API rate limit so other integrations keep working.
Built in your browser
The PDFs, CSV files and ZIP files are created on your computer. Help Scout data passes through the app's server in memory on its way to your browser and is never written to disk, a database or a log.
Read-only
The server only lets read requests through to Help Scout, so nothing can be sent, changed or deleted. Your Help Scout token sits in an encrypted cookie that your browser's scripts cannot read, and Disconnect removes it.
