Function Vault documentation

Documentation for Function Vault, an extension for Zoho CRM users. It describes the extension as it exists today and will be extended as the extension changes.

Requirements

  • A Zoho CRM organisation in one of the supported data centres: United States, Europe, India, Australia, Japan, Canada or Saudi Arabia. The China and United Kingdom data centres are not supported.
  • A user who may read functions in Zoho CRM. The extension asks for one permission, ZohoCRM.settings.functions.READ.

Installation

Install Function Vault from Zoho Marketplace and open its tab. The first time, connect it with your own Zoho account when Zoho asks; each user does this once.

Taking a snapshot

  • Check the data centre of your organisation (the extension preselects it when it can) and choose Take snapshot. Keep the tab open; every function needs one request and about 40 requests a minute are used.
  • When it finishes, the ZIP downloads: functions/<category>/<api_name>.ds for Deluge, the archives of other runtimes, manifest.json and index.csv. If the download did not start, choose Download snapshot ZIP again.
  • If the run stops (an error, Cancel, or closing the tab), take the snapshot again with the same data centre: functions already downloaded are kept in your browser and not downloaded again. Discard saved progress starts from scratch.

Comparing and searching

  • Compare: choose a saved snapshot ZIP and compare it with the organisation, or choose two ZIPs. Pick a changed function to see its line-by-line changes. Comparing two ZIPs sends no request to Zoho.
  • Search: enter text or a regular expression and search the snapshot taken in this session or a snapshot ZIP you choose. Results show the function, file and line.

Limits you should know

  • Zoho lets functions be downloaded up to 2 MB (Deluge) or 25 MB (other runtimes); larger ones are skipped and listed.
  • Function code can contain secrets such as keys or passwords. The snapshot contains the code exactly as it is: store the ZIP safely and do not put it in a public repository.
