UX Copy Assistant (BYOK) support

Help for UX Copy Assistant (BYOK), the Figma plugin that suggests clearer button labels, error messages and empty-state copy using your own AI provider account.

Get started

  1. Select one text layer in Figma and open the plugin.
  2. Open the provider settings, choose OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini, enter a model ID your account can use, and paste your own API key. The key is saved on this device in Figma's client storage; use the forget button to remove it.
  3. Choose what you are writing, the tone, the language and the length limit. Add short product context if it helps.
  4. Generate, read the three variants offered for the layer, pick one and apply it. Check the layout afterwards, because new wording can change line breaks.
  5. Use the plugin's undo button to restore the previous characters. Use Figma's native Undo to restore text formatting.

Placeholders such as {name}, {{count}}, %s and %1$d and URLs must come back unchanged; a suggestion that alters them is rejected. Other message syntax needs your own review. Read generated wording and translations before you ship them.

Provider errors

  • HTTP 401 or 403: the provider rejected the key or the model. Check that the key belongs to the selected provider and that your account can use that model.
  • HTTP 404: check the model ID for typos and availability.
  • HTTP 429: your provider's quota or rate limit was reached. The plugin never retries on its own, so wait and press generate again, or check your provider console.
  • Provider connection failed: check your network. Some provider and model combinations may refuse requests that come from inside a design tool; try another model or provider.
  • Unreadable response or invalid variants: the model did not return the expected JSON. Try again or choose another model.
  • Selection or text changed: the layer was edited while the request ran. Generate again.
  • Missing font: install the missing font in Figma before applying a suggestion.

Costs, free limit and Pro

You pay your AI provider directly for API usage, including when you use the free plugin. A chat subscription such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini does not necessarily include API usage. The plugin cannot cap your provider spending, so set a budget in your provider console.

The free plugin handles one selected text layer at a time with every copy task. Selections with several text layers, up to 50, need a Pro license. Pro is a separate one-time license key (USD 24, excluding VAT or sales tax) sold through Paddle on ux-copy.atesensoftware.com. Checkout there opens when the plugin is available on Figma Community. The Buy Pro button in the plugin opens that page in your browser. If you lose a key, the form on the sales site's support page sends it again to the address you bought with.

Release limits

The plugin sends selected text only to the provider you choose and has been tested with simulated provider responses. Live requests with real provider accounts from inside Figma Desktop have not been validated yet for every provider and model, so tell us about any provider-specific failure. Suggestions are machine-generated and can be wrong; review them before use. These pages do not announce a Figma Community release or a Community plugin ID.

Contact support

Email support@atesensoftware.com with the plugin version, your operating system, the provider and model ID, the action you tried and the exact error text. Never include your API key, license key, private Figma files or confidential copy.

We aim to acknowledge every support email within two business days (Europe/Istanbul).
