Timeline Exporter documentation

Documentation for Timeline Exporter, an extension for Zoho CRM users. It describes the extension as it exists today and will be extended as the extension changes.

Requirements

  • A Zoho CRM organisation in one of the supported data centres: US, EU, IN, AU, JP, CA or SA.
  • A user who can see the records whose history you export. The extension reads with that user's permissions and sharing rules.

Installation

Install Timeline Exporter from Zoho Marketplace and open its tab. The first time, connect it with your own Zoho account when Zoho asks; each user does this once. It asks to read records, modules, fields and custom views and to search records.

Exporting

  • 1. Module: check the data centre of your organisation and choose the module.
  • 2. Records: choose a custom view, search criteria (for example Last_Name:starts_with:A) or a list of record IDs, and the most records to export (default 500, at most 2,000).
  • 3. Filters: optionally a date range, fields, users and event types.
  • 4. Run: the progress shows how many records were read. Cancel stops and keeps what was read.
  • 5. Results: Download CSV, Download PDFs (ZIP) or Download field summary (CSV).

About the files

  • The CSV keeps values as Zoho returns them. A value a spreadsheet would run as a formula (starting with =, +, - or @ and not just a number or phone number) gets a leading apostrophe. A value Zoho sends as an unnamed object is written as JSON, cut at 300 characters.
  • PDFs use Latin-1 fonts; see the note on non-Latin characters above.
  • If an error would hit every record, for example a module that cannot be read, the run stops early and says why.
