Groupfold vs Joiin, G-Accon, Fathom, CrunchSync and Consolido for Xero consolidation

Xero does not consolidate several organisations, and its ideas board says that is not currently planned. Five apps do it by connecting to Xero. Groupfold takes a different route: you export the Profit and Loss as Excel from each organisation and it builds one group report in your browser. That makes it cheap and narrow. If you need a live connection, a balance sheet or a cash flow, one of the others fits better. Facts about the other tools come from their own pages, opened on 7 November 2026.

What Groupfold does not do

  • Profit and Loss only. There is no balance sheet and no cash flow.
  • You export the files yourself. Groupfold does not connect to Xero, so every month you export one Excel file per organisation and add them again.
  • Exchange rates are typed by you. No rate is looked up. The source you write goes on the Notes sheet.
  • Eliminations are typed by you. Groupfold does not find inter-company amounts. You enter an amount on each line.
  • No accounting standard. It is a management reporting aid, with no claim of IFRS compliance, no audit and no accounting advice.
  • Tested with the Xero Global layout. It was not tested with Xero exports from every region. If your file is not recognised, the tool tells you why.

When Groupfold fits, and when another tool does

Groupfold fits when

  • You need a consolidated Profit and Loss now, or for a board pack once a month, and a $19 pass for 30 days is less than a month of any connected app.
  • You prefer files that never leave your browser, and an Excel result with formulas you can audit.
  • You are happy to export the files and to type the rates and eliminations.

Another tool fits when

  • You want a live connection that pulls the data by itself: Joiin, G-Accon, Fathom, CrunchSync and Consolido all do.
  • You need a balance sheet or a cash flow in the consolidation: Joiin, CrunchSync and Consolido list them. Fathom adds cash flow forecasting.
  • You want it to run by itself every month, with refreshes, dashboards or report packs: the connected apps above.
  • You want eliminations found for you: Consolido says it detects inter-company transactions, and Joiin and Fathom list eliminations as a feature.
  • You live in Google Sheets: G-Accon and CrunchSync work there.

Questions people ask

Can you consolidate several Xero organisations in Xero?

Not in Xero itself. The ideas-board request has 279 votes and Xero's reply of 23 July 2025 says consolidated reporting is not currently planned. Apps from Xero's partners and tools such as Groupfold do it outside Xero.

What is the cheapest way to consolidate Xero Profit and Loss reports?

Excel and your own time cost nothing, and the guide on this site lists the steps. Groupfold costs $19 for a 30-day pass ($11.40 with FOUNDING40 until 30 November 2026). The connected apps on this page start at £15 a month (Consolido, 2 entities) or $28 a month (Joiin, 1 company).

Which of these tools connects directly to Xero?

Joiin, G-Accon, Fathom, CrunchSync and Consolido connect to Xero. Groupfold does not: you add the Excel exports of the Profit and Loss.

Does Groupfold consolidate the balance sheet or cash flow?

No. It does the Profit and Loss only. For a balance sheet or cash flow, use a tool that lists them, such as Joiin, CrunchSync or Consolido.

Does Groupfold handle several currencies and eliminations?

Yes, with your input. You choose the currency and type the exchange rate for each company, and you type an elimination amount on each line. Groupfold looks up no rates and finds no inter-company amounts.

Are my files uploaded when I use Groupfold?

No. The files are read in your browser. The page makes a few requests of its own (the Paddle checkout script, an anonymous visit count and the licence check), and none of them carries your files.

Can I get a refund on the Groupfold pass?

Yes, in full within 14 days of the payment.
