About the game
You are HEX-01, a neon cyber-sentinel alone on a grid that keeps spawning geometric enemies. Your weapons fire on their own. You steer, dodge and decide what to build.
Every kill drops XP shards. Fill the bar and pick one of three modules. There are 15 in total, 7 weapons and 8 passive systems, each with several ranks, and you can combine them any way you like.
Weapons
- Pulse Repeater: rapid plasma bolts with multi-shot and pierce
- Aegis Orbitals: energy blades that circle around you
- Arc Tesla Coil: lightning that chains across groups of enemies
- Nova Shockwave: an expanding ring that damages enemies and pushes them back
- Seeker Swarm: homing micro-rockets with an explosive blast
- Ion Railbeam: a laser that pierces whole lines of enemies
- Singularity Mines: gravity mines that pull enemies in before they go off
The passive systems raise damage, fire rate, move speed, pickup range, hull regeneration, critical hits, armor and XP yield.
The swarm
There are 10 kinds of enemies: swarmers, shield crawlers, phase dashers that signal their lunge, mitosis hexes that split, snipers that shoot back, carriers with a shield aura, volatile novas that explode, leeches, mites and goliath juggernauts. Every half minute a ring of enemies closes in. At 4:30 the Kronos Warden arrives, and at 8:30 the Omega Leviathan comes for you. Take it down and the run is cleared.
Between runs
Spend the Data Cores you collect in the Cyber Hangar on 8 permanent upgrades: hull, damage, speed, cooldowns, pickup range, armor, core yield and repair. Your progress is saved.
There is also one free reroll of the three module choices per run, a 2x speed toggle, a performance mode, and screen shake and damage numbers that you can switch off. The soundtrack and sound effects are synthesized by the game itself.
